Long Exposures

Tuesday, 20 April 2010 15:53

During the Shoot the Hills photo competition this year the sky was very cloudy so this shot wasn't possible during contest hours, but I certainly wanted one anyway.

10 shot multiple exposure done in camera timed with a remote cord.  About 15 minutes maybe?  Enjoy!

Apple is too controlling!!

Says the person who (for some reason) doesn't like apple, or hates them because their palm pre won't work with iTunes anymore.  People don't understand the content control Apple prefers to ensure their users always have a good experience on their device.

I recently purchased a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, this lens provides good/great sharpness and a constant maximum aperture of 2.8.  It also looks really cool, and is huge (although it is the smallest and lightest of the breed).

Sharpening

Thursday, 24 December 2009 16:31

Most photos from cameras are soft due to the camera's antialiasing filter and usually conserative in camera processing. I have found heavy in camera sharpening to look bad as well. There are countless methods for sharpening and the process itself is subjective, just like everything else in art of course.

Lately i've been sharpening my photos a lot, where appropriate.

This example will include a picture in which gobal changes are ok.

Mouse over the following picture to see the difference. A picture of some pots while I was cooking (rice). This involves an extremely specular surface which could benefit from this processing. The best way to edit a RAW file is to load it as a Smart Object. This allows filters and changes without touching the original layer.
